Privacy is space where the self can exist without being reviewed.

Under observation, everything you do is also a submission for evaluation. Privacy is the space where you are not being graded, where you can be uncertain, inconsistent, unimpressive, or simply undecided without anyone forming a view. People need that room to exist as themselves rather than as a performance. Take it away entirely and something in a person starts to flatten.

Protect a portion of your week that nobody knows about. It does not have to be spent on anything worthwhile. What matters is that no one is going to have an opinion about it.
