Drone bees are bigger than workers, but they don’t gather food or make honey. Size isn’t contribution.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

Drones are bigger than the workers and produce nothing anybody can eat. The work is done by smaller ones nobody notices, which makes a hive a decent warning about reading importance off appearance. Groups of people have the same gap between the biggest presence in the room and whatever is actually holding things together. Prominence and usefulness travel separately more often than we expect.

Work out who in your group is doing the most, and compare that with who gets listened to. If they do not match, say so publicly when the chance comes. Then be honest about which of the two you are.
