You’re allowed to struggle even if your life looks fine from the outside.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

Visible circumstances and internal weather are only loosely related. A life with no obvious catastrophe can still be hard to be inside, and the absence of an acceptable reason becomes a second problem, because now you feel both bad and unentitled. That second part is doing real damage. Difficulty does not require a permit.

Drop the test of whether you have earned the right to feel this way. Say the plain thing to one person who will not ask you to justify it. If it has been going on a while, that is worth telling an adult you trust rather than carrying alone.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

What have you hidden because your life looks fine outwardly?
