Every job you think is “beneath” someone is a job you’d notice the minute nobody did it.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Status and necessity are not the same measurement. The work that gets ranked lowest is usually the work whose absence is immediate: nobody notices the bins until they are not emptied, or the kitchen until nothing comes out of it. Prestige tracks how visible the person is; necessity tracks how visible the gap would be. Only one of those scales keeps a building running.
Pay attention this week to who does the invisible work around you, at home, at school, at your job. Thank one of them by name. And when the unglamorous task is yours, do it properly.
Whose work would you miss immediately if it simply stopped?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
