In physical therapy, walking to the end of the hall is a big deal. Some days the small win is the whole win.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

Progress gets measured against where you are, not against where somebody else happens to be standing. In recovery, a distance that looks trivial from outside can take weeks of work and cost a serious amount, and everyone involved knows exactly what it took. The body doing the walking sets the scale.

On a day when your usual standard is out of reach, pick the honest next step and let finishing it be the result. If somebody near you is working at that scale, tell them what you noticed rather than praising them in general.

What counted as progress for you on a rough day?
