A five-year-old thinks a puddle is an event. Some of that was right.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Small children treat ordinary things as events, which is partly inexperience and partly a kind of accuracy that gets trained out of people. A puddle genuinely is interesting. What changed is not the puddle but how much attention you are now willing to give anything that is not new.
Give something on your usual route two minutes of five-year-old attention this week: a puddle, a dog, frost on a car. It costs nothing, and it is a skill you can put back.
What delighted you at five and bores you now?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
