Job titles are written in pencil. How you treated the intern is written in ink.

Positions change constantly through promotions, restructures and companies that quietly disappear. The record of how you behaved while you had a little power does not get revised. People remember precisely how they were treated when they were new and had nothing to offer anybody, and they carry it around for decades.

Right now you are probably the newest person somewhere, so notice how you are handled and what you would do differently. When you have the seniority, be as decent to whoever is lowest down as to whoever can help you.
