Draw a map of every place you’ve lived. It’s a timeline of who you’ve been.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

Places and versions of you are filed together. A street, a bedroom, a walk to a school gate: each belongs to a particular stretch of who you were, what you feared and who you spent your time with. Laid out on paper, the addresses turn into a timeline you did not know you were keeping. Change becomes visible in a way that thinking about yourself rarely manages.

Draw it this week, badly, on one sheet. Mark each place with one thing you remember and one thing you were worried about then. Notice how many of those worries resolved.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Which address holds the version of you you miss?
