A team is a group of people deciding someone else’s win matters to them.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

Shared colours do not make a team. What does is a decision each person makes privately to count somebody else’s good moment as their own, and to feel it when the result goes the other way. That is why a group can share a bus and a badge and still not be one, and why a few people with no equipment can be.

At your next practice or group task, pick one person whose result you will genuinely care about. Say well done out loud when it goes right for them. These things start from one person outward.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Whose success have you decided to care about as yours?
