You’ve never actually seen your own face, only reflections and photos. Go easy on the critiques.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

You have never actually seen your own face, only a reversed version in glass and a flattened one in photographs. Everybody else gets the real thing, in motion, from a few feet away, in ordinary light. The version you keep criticising is the only one you cannot see properly, which makes you the least qualified reviewer in the building.

Given that, go easy with the verdicts. When you catch yourself mid-critique, remember you are working from a bad copy. Ask somebody how they would describe your face, and then believe the answer.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Which feature do you criticise from photos alone?
