Clock hands show the whole hour at a glance. Digital numbers show only this minute. Zoom out.

How something is displayed changes what you are able to think about. A dial shows where you sit inside something larger, how much has gone and how much is left, while a number reports this instant and nothing about the shape around it. Lived minute by minute, a bad week looks like a disaster. Seen as a stretch, it looks like a stretch.

When today feels like a verdict, look at the month instead. Write the week out in full, including the parts that went fine. Ask how this will read from next term before you decide it needs an emergency response.
