Some things are more enjoyable to access than to possess.

Some pleasures live in the using and not the holding. A boat on a rented afternoon is joy; a boat in your driveway is a project. When the upkeep sits between you and the experience, the thing you wanted gets buried under the thing you now manage.
Separate what you love from what you assume loving it requires. For the next thing you want badly, ask whether renting, borrowing, or paying per use would give you nearly all of the pleasure and almost none of the weight. Often it will, and you can spend the difference on actually going.
What do you enjoy most when you can borrow rather than keep it?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
