A coin toss is fair because nobody controls it. Life isn’t a coin toss, so stop acting like you have no say.

CREATIVITY

WHAT THIS MEANS

Randomness is a comfortable story because it removes your part in the outcome. Plenty genuinely is luck, the family you were born into, who happened to be hiring, and underneath that sits a layer you do decide: what you practise, who you spend time with, whether you ask. Calling the whole thing chance is a way of not looking at that layer.

Split one situation into the part you control and the part you do not, in writing. Then do something about the first column this week, even something small. Leave the rest to the weather and stop arguing with it.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Where are you pretending to have no say at all?
