A river doesn’t push the rock out of the way. It goes around and keeps the rock as a landmark.

CREATIVITY

WHAT THIS MEANS

Some obstacles were never going to be removed. The rock stays, the water finds its way past, and over time the thing that blocked the path becomes the feature everybody navigates by, which is how most lasting difficulties end up working in a life. You do not have to defeat everything in your way. Going around is not a lesser outcome.

Choose the obstacle you have been trying to overpower and find the route past it this week instead: the subject you will never love, the person who will not change, the limit that is simply there. Save the energy for the going around.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Which obstacle could you route around instead of removing?
