Some things become valuable because they were cared for long enough to age well.

STILLNESS
Some materials improve under care and only under care. Leather, wood, brass, cast iron, a well-kept instrument: they take on the marks of use and become better looking for it. What reads as value is really the visible record of somebody bothering, year after year, when nobody was watching.
If you own anything that ages this way, learn its one ritual. Oiling, seasoning, polishing, tuning. It takes minutes and gives back decades, and there is a particular satisfaction in owning something that is visibly better for having been yours.
What have you tended long enough for it to become better?
