Packing for a trip teaches you the weight of “just in case.” Most of it comes home unworn.

What you pack just in case is a list of things you are quietly afraid of. The extra outfit, the second charger, the medicine for an illness you do not have. Almost none of it gets used, and the real cost is not the weight, it is the assumption underneath, which is that you could not cope with a small gap if one appeared. You generally could.
After your next trip, even a weekend at somebody’s house, notice what came back untouched. Leave three of those behind next time and trust yourself to manage without them.
What did you pack last trip and never once use?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
