Every complicated origami model starts with folds you learned on the first day. Basics don’t expire.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
Advanced work is mostly a longer arrangement of elementary moves. The hard model is not made of new folds; it is made of the same few, combined in an order you could not have followed a year ago. People get bored of fundamentals and look for something more impressive, which is how they end up stuck at intermediate.
Go back and do the beginner version of something you can already do. The first exercise in the book, the simplest crane, the scale you learned first. Do it slowly and well, and notice how much cleaner it is now than it was. That is the measurement you have been looking for.
