Saying yes to the right thing too early can cost you as much as saying yes to the wrong thing.

Timing is part of whether something is right. A good opportunity taken before you can handle it uses up the chance, because you get one shot at a first impression and you spend it unprepared. The job, the solo, the relationship, the responsibility, any of those can be correct in principle and wrong this month.

Before you accept something, ask what it will demand in week six rather than how it feels now. If the honest answer is that you cannot meet that, say so and ask for later rather than no. People respect that more than you expect, and the thing often comes back around.
