Don’t compare month two of your hair to someone’s year three. Same with everything else.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
Comparison goes wrong when you line up two different points on the same curve. What you see in somebody else is an accumulated result, while what you feel in yourself is the middle of the accumulating. Set your early version against their finished one and you will always lose, and the loss tells you nothing true.
When you catch yourself measuring, ask how long the other person has been at it. Then compare yourself to where you stood a month ago instead. Keep one photo, recording or score from the start so the comparison has something honest to use.
Whose later stage are you measuring your beginning against?
