Learning to fix small things yourself is independence with a toolbox.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
Being able to deal with the small broken thing changes how much of your life needs somebody else’s schedule. A loose handle, a bike chain, a blocked drain: none of it is impressive, and all of it is the difference between waiting a week and sorting it on Saturday. The skills are not hard, they are just unfamiliar. Confidence here comes from having done a few, not from reading about them.
Fix one thing this week that you would normally report to someone else. Look it up, borrow the tool, take your time. Then put the tool back where it lives, because that is half of it.
What small repair could you learn to do yourself?
