Owning a cheap couch you paid for beats sitting on a nice one with conditions.

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

Something modest that is fully yours sits differently from something good that comes with conditions. The nicer item carries a small ongoing debt: a say in how you use it, a comment when you move it, a reminder of where it came from. The cheap one has none of that attached. What you are buying with the worse couch is the absence of a conversation.

When help is offered this week, take a second to notice what comes with it. Accept the offers that are free of strings, and consider paying for the rest yourself even if it means a worse version. Cheap and yours is often the better deal.
