You don’t have to be impressive every day. Some days you just have to be okay.

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

The expectation of a strong showing every day is a recent and strange one, and it does not match how anything actually improves. Most days in a long stretch of getting better at something are ordinary: you turn up, you do the work at seventy percent, you go home. Those days count, and the good ones are built out of them. Being okay is a perfectly valid use of a Tuesday.

Pick one day this week where the aim is just to get through it decently. No extra, no catching up, no proving anything. Then notice that nothing fell over, which is the useful part.
