Being unbothered isn’t pretending. It’s deciding what earns a reaction.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
Being unbothered gets mistaken for suppression, as though you were swallowing a reaction and calling it calm. The real version sits upstream of that, in a decision about what qualifies. Plenty of what happens in a day is noise from people who are barely thinking about you, and noise does not require an answer. Choosing what gets a response is not the same as pretending you felt nothing.
Sort one day’s irritations into two piles: things that will matter next week, and things that will not. Answer the first. Let the second pass, and notice how little it cost you.
What still gets a reaction from you that has not earned one?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
