Let your friends have other friends. Jealousy shrinks a friendship.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
Being somebody’s only person sounds like closeness and works as a cage. A friendship with jealousy in it starts running on monitoring, and the other person begins editing what they tell you to avoid setting it off. That is how a close thing gets smaller: not through a fight, but through things being left unsaid to keep the peace.
When the twinge arrives, treat it as a feeling to sit with rather than a fact to act on. Ask about the other friends instead of going quiet about them. If you have been somebody’s only lately, you both need a wider week.
