Stop walking on the moving walkway and you still move. Notice what’s carrying you before you take credit.

Some of your speed belongs to the floor. A good coach, a parent who drives you places, a school that happened to have the class you needed, being born when and where you were: none of that is earned, and all of it moves you forward while you are also walking. Mistaking the walkway for your legs makes you harsh with people standing still on ordinary ground.
Name three things carrying you right now, specifically and by name. Thank one of them out loud this week, which takes a sentence. Then notice that the walking still counts, because the point is accuracy rather than guilt.
What advantages have been carrying you that you rarely count?
