The skill gap between you and the pro is mostly what they notice that you don’t yet.

Expertise looks like faster hands and is mostly better seeing. The same situation arrives full of information for somebody who has been in it ten thousand times and nearly blank for somebody new, which is why they seem to have more time than you do. They are not reacting quicker. They saw it earlier, because they knew where to look.

Spend some of this week on seeing rather than doing. Ask somebody good what they look at first, then watch them for ten minutes with that one question in mind. Go and practise noticing that exact thing, because it improves faster than general effort does.
