After losing someone, people will want to fill your quiet. It’s okay to keep some of it. Grief needs room too.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
Quiet after losing somebody is not a problem that needs solving, although the people around you will often treat it as one. They fill it with food and plans and conversation because sitting with another person’s silence is hard, and their discomfort is usually kindness in an awkward shape. The quiet can be part of how you manage, not a gap where help should go.
If you want a stretch of it, you are allowed to say so plainly, and saying it to one person is enough. A walk by yourself counts. There is no schedule here that you are behind on.
