Saying “I’m still figuring out what I believe about that” takes more self-honesty than faking certainty.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
Saying that something is unsettled is harder than producing an answer, because certainty is socially cheaper and nobody interrogates it. An honest unfinished position keeps you looking, while a borrowed one closes the question and leaves you defending a view you never actually examined. People with deep beliefs and people with none both get further by admitting where they really are.
Next time it comes up, try saying plainly that you are still working it out. Then do something with the question rather than parking it: read, ask somebody you respect, sit with it quietly. Undecided and honest is a real place to stand.
