Being alone with your mistakes is uncomfortable. Being alone with your mistakes and still being kind to yourself is growth.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
Sitting with something you got wrong is hard, and the two quick exits are blaming somebody else or turning on yourself, both of which end the discomfort fast. The harder option is holding the mistake as genuinely yours while still treating yourself as somebody worth repairing, and that is the version where the change actually sticks. Punishing yourself feels like accountability and usually delivers less of it.
After the next thing you get wrong, write what you would do differently and one sentence you would say to a friend in your position. Say that sentence to yourself. Then do the repair instead of the penance.
How do you talk to yourself about the thing you got wrong?
