Ask your future self a question, then sit quiet long enough for an answer. You’ll be surprised what you already know.

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

Asking a question and then genuinely waiting works because the answer is often already in you, just unassembled. Most of the time you move too quickly for it: you ask, then immediately supply what you are supposed to want, or check what somebody else thinks first. Sitting in the quiet long enough lets the honest answer get a word in edgeways.

Try it once this week with a real question, written down, followed by five minutes of nothing. Do not grade whatever arrives. Write it down even if it is inconvenient, and look at it again in a few days.
