A bubble sheet samples a few skills on one morning. It has no column for building, fixing, leading or making people laugh.

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

A score measures what a test can measure, a narrow slice of a person on one morning. There is no section for fixing an engine, calming a room, running a shift or being the reason people stay. Those are harder to grade, so they go uncounted, and uncounted gets confused with unimportant. A low number describes a morning, not a ceiling.

Make your own list this week of things you can do that no exam asked about. You can teach a kid to skate, you can talk to strangers, you can fix what breaks. Then sit the test anyway, because scores still open doors, and get on with the rest.
