The voice that says “you’re not that kind of person” might just be scared. Test it once.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
A sentence about who you are not can be a conclusion or a hiding place. Fear is good at dressing up as identity, because identity sounds settled and does not invite argument. Sometimes it is accurate and you genuinely do not want the thing. Telling the two apart takes one try rather than more thinking.
Pick the smallest real test you can find and do it this week. Audition, go to the first session, ask the question, sit with a different group at lunch. Once is plenty, since you are gathering evidence rather than signing up for life, and if it was fear you will feel it loosen.
What have you ruled out by deciding it is not you?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
