Being homesick doesn’t mean you’re weak. It means home did something right.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
Missing a place is evidence something there was good enough to leave a mark. The ache feels like weakness because it arrives when you most want to look capable, in a new room full of people who seem settled. It is not a sign you cannot cope. It is the ordinary cost of having had somewhere that mattered.
Let it be what it is for a while rather than fighting it. Call home when you want to, not on a schedule set to prove something. Then do one small thing that makes the new place yours, a shop you go to, a route you know, a person you greet.
What did home do right that you only noticed by leaving?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
