The walk home from practice alone is where you replay every mistake. Replay one thing you did right too.

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

Replaying mistakes is how a body learns, which is why the walk home runs the bad clip over and over. The problem is that the reel is one-sided. Nothing gets reinforced about the pass you read correctly or the moment you did not panic, so you arrive home with an inventory of errors and no record of what works. A skill needs both halves.

On the way back, make yourself replay one thing you did well before you reach the door. One is enough, and it should be specific rather than general reassurance. Then do the same after exams and shifts, since the habit has nothing to do with sport.
