Every kid in a full house finds a spot, the closet floor, the back step, the car. Find yours as an adult too.

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

A quiet corner is a need rather than a childhood quirk. Children in crowded houses work it out instinctively, finding a corner nobody else wants, and then most people lose the habit when life gets busier and they decide they are too old for it. The need does not disappear with the age. It just stops being met.

Find the adult version now rather than later: a car park before a shift, a bench, the long way round, a room nobody uses. Go there on purpose when things are loud. Ten minutes counts, and keeping the habit alive is easier than rebuilding it in your thirties.
