The tool arrives, everybody adopts it, and the norms lag by a decade. Whether it is rude to check your phone mid-conversation, what privacy means now, what a photograph of someone obliges you to do: we are all improvising, and the improvisation happens at scale before anyone has thought it through.

Since the rules are not settled, decide your own and follow them consistently. What you will not do with your phone, what you will not post about others. Personal standards are all that is available while the shared ones are still forming.
