Trying to be liked by everyone trades away your opinions for invites.

LEADERSHIP

WHAT THIS MEANS

Agreeing with everybody is a payment plan. Each small softening buys a bit of belonging, and after enough of them nobody, including you, knows what you think. The people who liked the agreeable version do not actually know you, so their approval has nowhere to land. Being properly liked by fewer people is a better deal than it sounds at sixteen.

Think of one thing you have stayed quiet about to keep the peace. Say it once this week, calmly, to somebody who disagrees. You are checking that you can hold an opinion and still have lunch somewhere.
