Underreacting buys you time. Overreacting spends it.

LEADERSHIP

WHAT THIS MEANS

Big reactions commit you to themselves. Once you have shouted, posted or quit, most of your energy goes into defending the reaction rather than solving the thing that caused it. A small response leaves every door open, including the loud one, if you still want it later. Waiting is not weakness, it is keeping your options.

Next time something lands badly, do the smallest honest thing available: one calm question, or nothing at all for a few hours. Decide what you think after you know more. The strong move is almost never the fastest one.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Where did staying calm buy you room to think?
