Teach the new kid the shortcut you figured out. Keeping it to yourself doesn’t make you important. Passing it on does.

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

Hoarding a trick feels like power and is mostly just friction. Whoever knows the quick way to stock the back room gains a small private advantage while the entire shift runs slower, and everyone works out fairly fast which sort of coworker they are dealing with. Being the person things improve around is the part that carries.

Show somebody newer one thing you figured out yourself, this week, before they ask. Explain the reasoning so they can adapt it. You lose nothing and you become the person people come to, which was always worth more than the trick.
