Sharing your location with someone isn’t the same as sharing your life with them.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Visibility is not intimacy. Somebody can watch a dot move around a map all day and know nothing about how you are, while the actual content of a life, what is worrying you and what you decided, only transfers when you tell someone. The two get confused because one of them is effortless. Information about where you are is the cheapest kind there is.

If you share your location with people, notice whether it has quietly replaced talking to them. Tell one of them something real this week that the map could not show. And if the tracking makes you uneasy, you are allowed to say so.
