A person who never looks ridiculous is probably avoiding interesting experiences.
RESILIENCE
RESILIENCE
Looking ridiculous is the natural cost of being a beginner at something, of dancing badly, of asking the obvious question, of trying in public before you are good. Someone who has fully avoided that cost has usually done it by staying inside a narrow band of activities where their competence was already established. The dignity is real, but it was bought with a smaller life.
Think about the last time you felt foolish and whether the experience was actually worth having. Then look at what you have quietly been declining lately, and notice how much of the reason is about how you would appear rather than what you would gain. Pick one of those and go do it badly.
What have you skipped lately to avoid looking foolish?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
