Sometimes the whole apology is showing up after the fight with snacks and no speech.

Not every repair runs through language. Arriving at somebody’s door with food is a complete statement, because the effort and the timing say what the words would have said. A lot of people cannot produce a good apology out loud and can still clearly mean it. Reading the arrival correctly is as much the skill as making it.

If you are in the wrong with somebody this week, go round rather than drafting the perfect message. Bring something, say little, stay a bit. And if somebody turns up at yours like that, take the deal rather than asking them to say it properly.
