A neighbor who taught you to change a tire handed you a skill and a reason to trust grown-ups a little more.

Two things got handed over in that driveway. One was practical and will be useful at a bad moment on a dark road. The other was less visible, which is the demonstration that an adult with no obligation to you will spend forty minutes making sure you can do something. Both tend to stay, and the second one changes how you approach adults for years.
Go and ask somebody to show you one practical thing this month. Checking the oil, wiring a plug, how to talk to a mechanic. Most people are pleased to be asked, and you will be handing them something as well as taking it.
