If you have to keep auditioning for someone’s respect, the part already went to someone else.

Respect that requires continuous proof is not going to be awarded. Somebody who has not decided about you after a reasonable amount of evidence has usually decided, and the auditioning is just a way of keeping you busy. Each round feels like it might be the last one, which is what keeps people in it for years. The tell is that the standard moves whenever you meet it.

Notice whether the bar has shifted the last few times you cleared it. If it has, you can stop performing without announcing anything or falling out with anybody. Put that effort somewhere it gets a response.
