Trust that’s never been tested is just a guess nobody’s checked yet.

Easy conditions tell you little. If nothing has gone wrong between you yet, what you have is a hopeful estimate, built out of a good vibe and no evidence. Real information shows up when there is a cost: a secret that would be fun to repeat, a promise that became inconvenient, a moment when covering for you was risky. None of that is a reason to be suspicious of people. It is a reason to hold your confidence loosely until the data comes in.
