Being trusted with someone’s bad day is a bigger honor than an invite to their good one.

Good days are easy to share. Celebrations are open invitations; bad days are not, and choosing who sees you at your worst is a much narrower decision. When somebody picks you for that, they are saying they believe you will not use it later, will not make it about yourself, and will not need them to be entertaining. Very few people get that call.
If you get it, do less than you think. Turn up, stay a while, do not solve it, and keep the details to yourself afterwards. And check who you call on your own bad days, because that is the honest list of who you trust.
Who called you on their worst day instead of their best?
