Broke someone’s trust? Don’t argue for it back. Earn it back on a timeline they get to set.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Trust is not a verdict you can appeal. When you break it, the other person is not being stubborn by taking a while; they are waiting for enough evidence to replace what the break taught them. Pushing them to hurry is asking them to risk being hurt again on your schedule.

Say the apology once, clearly, and then stop making the case. Be reliable in small boring ways: show up when you said, answer when they write, and do not mention how patient you have been. Let them decide when it is over.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Whose trust are you arguing for instead of patiently rebuilding?
