Notice which friends leave you energized and which leave you drained. Then ask which one you are.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Company has an effect that is easy to feel and easy to leave unexamined. Some people hand you something and some people make a withdrawal, and the second group is often not unkind, just always in need of an audience. The question that turns this from judgement into something useful is the one about yourself.
Run through your week and notice how you felt walking away from each person. Then ask what somebody would say about walking away from you. If the honest answer is drained, pick one friendship where you ask more than you tell.
Are you the friend people leave feeling better or heavier?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
