Older kids who admit their mistakes give younger kids permission to do the same.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

Younger people are watching what happens to whoever owns up. If the older ones hide everything, the lesson they take is that mistakes are shameful and must be managed, and they learn that long before anybody tells them otherwise. Hearing somebody they look up to say they got it wrong changes the whole calculation.

If there is a younger sibling, cousin or teammate around, let them hear one of yours this week, in plain words and without turning it into a lecture. Say what you got wrong and what you did about it. They will take it from there.
