If you lost what you borrowed, the next words are “I’ll replace it,” not “it was old anyway.”

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

Owning the loss means paying for it, not re-pricing the thing you lost. Calling it old shrinks the favor someone did you, and turns their trust into something that was not worth much. The value was never only the item. It was that they handed it over without asking for anything.

If you have something of someone else’s that got broken or vanished, say so this week and name what you will do. Offer a replacement or a repair, even if it takes a couple of shifts to cover. Let them tell you it is fine rather than deciding that for them.
